Corollary Full Moon at 3° of Pisces
August 26, 2018 ~ 07:58 am EST / August 26, 2018 ~ 11:58 am UST

This new moon occupies Pisces at 26° and completes a cycle to its full moon counterpart on August 26, 2018. During this new moon period occurring in the 12th house of sorrows, reflection, solitude, secret enemies, occult and institutions, it won’t be long till we cross into reborn Aries, the house of self, initiation, dynamic spirit and the inner child.

Venus and Mercury give us hints to this shift as they’re already crossed over into Aries where they form a conjunction, Venus at 13° and Mercury at 14°. Venus is in detriment here as Aries is ruled by Mars and her feminine presence is suppressed by the male fire of Aries. Mercury may find our talks and communicative inquisitive, bold, and thriving off combat.

Adding to that aggressive energy of Aries are aspects to Mars applies a square to the sun and moon in Pisces from his perch in Sagittarius at 29°, indicating potential endings at this late degree before crossing into the calmer and more restrained, calculated Capricorn. Mars may have a final burst of energy before the Saturn ruled house of melancholy and focused strategy takes him. Men might find this shift presenting them with finishing a trip of a lesson or a private project, or perhaps it is discovered that some of us took on too many tasks during the Mars in Sagittarius period, leading to last minute frustrations in public and private. Whatever the case, new challenges in the Capricorn centered career field may arise and it would do well to clear the decks before this occurs.

While Venus at 13° Aries is already not quite feeling herself in her detriment, Saturn at 8° Capricorn squares her – indicated a possible strain in finance or difficulties in love. Someone may act brashly and regrets emerge later. Women or those with a strong female sensibility should be patient, both with themselves and others during this period. Be prepared by having that rainy day fund at the ready.

A retrograde Jupiter at 23° of Scorpio trines the sun and moon at 26° of Pisces. This strong, water influence should help us in our personal and private lives as we are better able to discover and perceive information beneath the superficial, discerning with a fine eye what we need to know and when we need to know it, our sense of the spiritual may quicken, promoting our relationships between the spiritual, occulted and those who move in those circles.

Black Moon Lilith at 14° Capricorn also creates a clash through squares to Venus at 13° Aries and Mercury at 14° Aries. Women may find aspects of their life at odds with each other, feeling disoriented and out of sorts as the struggle between the sense of work and authority, fun and play. The responsible mother and dynamic free woman will find their aims at odds and Venus will find their aims at odds and Venus will be too hampered to argue. Communications involving personalities like this may go awry.

Uranus at 26° Aries trines Mars at 29° Sagittarius, bringing fire into our lives. We might have erratic behavior when juxtaposed by the unexpected, or a rebellious streak looking for satisfaction. Creative spontaneity is favored giving the child-like Aries the impetus to explore her territory with Mars in Sagittarius behind the wheel.

We have prominent aspects to the north node at 12° Leo featuring a trine to Venus at 13° Aries and a trine to Mercury at 14° Aries, from the 5th house to the 1st house. The north node wants us to explore our sense of fun, creativity, and drama, to find the dynamic artist in ourselves, and aspects to Venus and Mercury in Aries brings the enthusiasm and child-like delight so essential to creativity and the arts. Endeavors move smoothly under such a fiery trining force.

The belly of the fish. Increases harvest and merchandise, helps travelers through danger, strengthens prisons and causes marital happiness and loss of treasure. With moon here, travel and take purgatives.

New Moon at 27° Aquarius Dreams To Stark Reality, Transformation Required – 2-15-18

02-15-2018 New Moon

When – February 15, 2018 ~ 04:06 pm EST / February 15, 2018 ~ 09:06 pm UST

Corollary Full Moon at 4° of Aquarius ON
July 27, 2018 ~ 04:22 pm EST / July 27, 2018 ~ 08:22 pm UST

Aquarius makes his mark on us this new moon with promises he will find difficult to keep. Aquarius, detached, rebellious, and dreamy, invites the sun in at 27° with the moon at 27°, and last, Mercury at 25° for a communicative conjunction. And while Aquarius may intend to keep his promises, he encounters difficulty when Jupiter at 22° Scorpio squares the sun, moon and Mercury.

Jupiter expands the natural 8th house of Scorpio, that house of pain, suffering, death, sex, the hidden and occulted, the house of transformation, suggesting that an obstacle, unforeseen, or even painful, presents itself, forcing us to make hard choices we did not anticipate. Perhaps that resistance to the status quo is no longer a viable path, perhaps we lost friends too easily, broken promises or a failure to live up to an obligation made under Mercury’s hasty influence. To get out of this mess you may have cause, transformation is required – whether it’s living up to a lie or turning it into a reality.

Trigger happy Mars in the natural 9th house ruler of Sagittarius at 12° may find us initiating projects far afield, or engaging with foreign cultures or publishing – but friction could be present as this Mars aspect squares to Neptune at 13° Pisces. Neptune wants to play the days away and swim in deep waters, but the happy go lucky nature of Sagittarius married to Mars’ physical, fiery thrust breeds dissatisfaction and neglect. Men might be more forceful in the face of vagueness and how they react to a passive aggressive force that is reluctant to give a straight forward answer, bringing discontent. Conversely, if Mars goes with the flow, there is great potential to expel this force in inclusive physical activity or traveling with no destination in mind.

The North Node in Leo at 14° trines Mars at 12° of Sagittarius. Here is a lovely push in the direction of our fate to embrace the Leonine house of play and creativity, hobbies and entrepreneurship and taking center stage. Mars charges us with even more confidence, bringing a happy go lucky attitude. Fire meets fire. Imagine the nodes in Leo serving as king and queen, and Mars in Sagittarius a general – the heroic Odysseus. They work together in harmony. Use this influence to further gain dominion and rulership over your own life and you will have the resources, (perhaps from a foreign source or a scholarship for an institution of higher learning) to lead a promising campaign for the future. Keep your eyes on the long term goal for the completion of this new moon in July 27, 2018.

A series of semi-squares present us with friction not as easily resolved in the same flash-bang pressure cooker that as square or opposition provides.

Jupiter at 22° Scorpio, expanding our desire for control and our ability to perceive corruption – or fall prey to it – semi-squares Saturn at 6° of Capricorn in his dignity. Saturn is powerful on his own throne, and is well placed to quash the upstart Jupiter, who may be engaged in acts of criminal nature, hiding wrong doing – or otherwise tempting us with over the top, too good to be true promises. If we are not the victim, than we are the perpetrator, and Saturn will likely be pleased to watch us dig our own hole before he lets us fall into his trap to teach his discipline. Beware that your need for control, sex, sadism, or violence is not breaking the boundaries of equity or the laws, for Saturn will master you, and it will be a long, drawn out affair under the semi-square influence.

Another prominent semi-square involves Venus at 6° Pisces and Pluto at 20° Capricorn, which presents an interesting friction between opposite sensibilities: the dreamy Piscean Venus, in her exaltation, is receptive and all forgiving and might represent the unconditional love of a mother, spiritual or otherwise, coming up against the Plutonic, stark demands of reality based Capricorn, who counts every cent and keeps eyes on accounts and plays by the rules. Here, again, a theme of dreaming, awakening to stark reality. There maybe a long, drawn out difficulty between a mother, a female figure, involving a hidden debt or inheritance which way to take a great deal of time to untangle.

Lastly, interesting aspects between Black Moon Lilith abound as at 10° of Capricorn she reaches conjunction with old man Saturn at 6° degrees of Capricorn.

Black Moon Lilith in Capricorn is a guest in Saturn’s home; think of a rebellious, hormonal teenager discovering her sexuality. Like Saturn, Black Moon Lilith can express this magnetic sexuality through an amazing self-sufficiency and independence, and it may be that strong-headed women discover the influence of men in their lives or either aiding them in finding their path through this intense feminine self – or badly hindering it. At his worst, Saturn will nitpick her, nag her, and burn her at the stake – anything but admit how her raw command of her sex disrupts his sense of order. The lesson of this conjunction will be in harnessing these two powerful energies for the best they have to offer.

Complicating Black Moon Lilith at 10° Capricorn is a semi-square to the sun, moon and Mercury. Expect this semi-square between rebellious Aquarius and upstart Black Moon Lilith in Capricorn to once again introduce our daydreams to stark reality, as Lilith might be providing an irritant at the sun and moon’s party. Black Moon Lilith will demand her place at the table but there may not be room for one more and it may prove impossible to placate her, leading to longer ranging consequences.

The Forespout (of the water-bucket). Causes union, health of captives, and destroys buildings and prisons. With moon here, plant, sow, bargain, marry but do not navigate.

New Moon at 26° Capricorn: Authority is Challenged

01-16-2018 New Moon

When – January 16th, 2018 ~ 09:18 EST / January 17th, 2018 ~ 02:18 am UST

Corollary Full Moon at 12° of Cancer
June 28th, 2018 ~ 12:54 pm EST / June 28th, 2018 ~ 04:54 am UST

Saturn at 3° Capricorn is only beginning to assert himself in his dignity of the 10th house, the place he feels most at home, where he keeps to the rules, enforces tasks, disciplines and brings with him a melancholic air.

Mercury at 8° and Black Moon Lilith at 7° are conjunct in this Saturnine house of Capricorn. There may be a female energy present who wants to flout authority, and Saturn might well let her, if her alignment with Mercury makes her charming enough to seduce old man Saturn. Or perhaps authority and sexual energy meet through communications, or, taken to a more abstract level, the seduction of business may have all the overtures of sexual advances – but without the sex. Saturn will frown at being taken advantage of unless there’s something in it for him.

Venus at 28° Capricorn is conjunct the Capricorn sun and Capricorn moon at 26°. Money and business flow without restriction, but responsibility and adhering to rules are key. Projects under this moon will have the potential to bear fruit, but they are ruled by Saturn, and so will require the effort and discipline Saturn so favors.

Our more taxing aspects come to us in the form of squares.

Uranus at 24° Aries squares Venus at 28° Capricorn, and the sun and moon at 26° Capricorn. Impulsiveness, brashness, or innovation may divert the careful planning of career-centered Capricorn. Recall the ancient myth of Saturn castrating his father, Uranus – this hard square between Uranus in the first house of the child Aries and the Saturn ruled Capricorn may indicate a similar castrating effect – something new enters the field of play, threatens the current status quo. Saturn is strong in his own house and will smother the new element before it has voice. Do not initiate projects that go against the grain of the established order, for they will not thrive under this aspect.

The North Node in Leo also squares Jupiter at 19° Scorpio, where Jupiter is also conjunct Mars at 24° Scorpio. Jupiter and Mars combine a potent, martial force, gearing up for a fight in the sign of Scorpio where Mars is trigger-happy. Our efforts to take charge will be undermined by this energy.

The semi-squares also give us a series of bitter pills to swallow. Mercury at 8° Capricorn semi-squares Mars at 24° Scorpio, once more reinforcing an undermined authority, but the process is slow and agonizing – could represent a failed business venture of a stock investment that promises more than it delivers through wild ups and downs, or a male figure who cannot communicate the necessary instructions to help a business operate effectively.

Jupiter at 19° Scorpio semi-squares Saturn at 3° Capricorn and the pain of the expanding planet against the planet of constriction here suggest a compartmentalization of underhanded doings or control issues in a business place or authority or even a field itself, where colleagues are revealed to be hiding something in the career field.

Neptune at 12° Pisces semi-squares Uranus at 24°, Venus at 28° Capricorn, and the moon and sun at 26° of Capricorn. This foggy Neptunian energy may give euphoria to a business venture or mislead us into a false sense of security – fraud may be at play.

One inconjunct stands out. Uranus at 24° Aries inconjunct Mars 24° Scorpio. The innovative ego child of Aries and the rapacious Mars soldier have nothing to offer each other here. Inconjuncts or quincunxes are incompatible and there may be no middle ground to work through – we can only try to pacify our self-centered needs (Aries) in a constructive matter and sometimes sports or physical activity, is a good way to off-set this.

The Luckiest of the Lucky. Gives marital happiness, victory of soldiers but prevents the execution of government. With moon here, build, marry, make friends and travel.

Sagittarius New Moon, 12-18-2017

Sagittarius New Moon

It’s the last new moon of 2017!

When I started this blog, I started out 2017 with a specific goal: post an astrological break down of each new and full moon. I kept my goal, and learned much more about the lunar cycles than I could have imagined, widening my understanding and sharing my insights with a wonderful audience.

As we close in on the last days of 2017, we have a chance to experience new beginnings. The sun and moon conjunct at 26 degrees of Sagittarius, that expansive sign of foreign travel and culture, higher education, and publishing.

In addition, Saturn is hinged on the 29th degree, hammering home the old saying that every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end; no less now as we prepare for Saturn to be ushered into Capricorn. Perhaps we are still tidying up retrograde messes from Saturn’s previous passage, or Mercury, who is still retrograde at 15 degrees Sagittarius. Yet, with Saturn closing in on the next sign, we may notice bigger shifts. Think back to when Saturn first entered Sagittarius in late 2015; I myself began a course of study that is now finishing. Others may notice that long term projects are coming to fruition, or nearing closure. It is time to consider what else we may want to build under this new moon, knowing that Capricorn is going to be a major transit in Saturn’s future.

And considering that the sun and moon are conjunct Saturn, it should be clear that our public and private life is supporting our potential new projects. Consider Capricorn’s earthy, practical nature and focus on career and ambitions to succeed. We may be considering how we can take the lessons of Sagittarius and apply them to our career field.

Significantly, Uranus is also at 24 degrees of Aries, and in nearly six months, he will be moving into earth-centered Taurus. For now, though, he’s making a trine to the sun and the moon, and a very loose trine to Saturn; we may see something unexpected come into our lives — for many, the holiday season might bring gifts we did not foresee, or the meeting of old friends and relatives we had thought were lost to us.

Venus at 21 degrees of Sagittarius is also making a trine to Uranus at 24 degrees of Aries, and so there might be matters of romance or fortune coming into play during the holiday season as well; keep the mood light hearted and steal a kiss beneath the mistletoe.

Neptune at 11 degrees Pisces will also form square with Mercury, retrograde at 15 degrees Sagittarius; this may indicate some difficulties with negotiations, contracts, or at the very least, unclear or fuzzy information which could also implicate media. It’s my understanding that recently, an article regarding a UFO was the headline “news” among several major newspapers — information acquired from a member of the band Blink 182. Given that this square with Neptune and this retrograde Mercury is happening in conjunction with the media covering this event, be aware that everything considered fit-to-print is not the whole story, and it comes with a strong whiff of delusion, if not outright distraction. Be advised to carefully vette what information you intend to make decisions based off of so you can take a proper heading and not be lost in the fog.

A compilation of the full and new moons of 2018 will be available in late 2017, called Lunations, 2018, which will be made available as an ebook.

Scorpio New Moon, 26 Degrees, 11-18-2017

Scorpio New Moon

When I draw up charts for these lunations, it comes to pass that some do not have a lot of aspects, since I prefer a tighter orb; this is one of those moons.

Yet, the most prominent aspect for this new moon is quite potent: the Mars-Pluto square.

Currently, the moon and the sun are conjunct at 26 degrees of Scorpio, highlighting Plutonic themes. Mars/Pluto are the planetary rulers of Scorpio, so this means those planets will have the force of the sun and the moon powering them by rulership. Scorpio of course, rules other people’s resources, divorce, occult matters, taxes, death, and sex, among other things.

Mars, the planet of action and force, is in detriment at 16 degrees Libra. Pluto is at 17 degrees of Capricorn, the sign Saturn rules. Currently, Saturn is still transiting Sagittarius in preparation for his move into Capricorn, where he will be in dignity in his home sign.

Any time two malefics are involved in hard aspect, caution is always prudent; here we might expect problems in our relationships (Libra), where perhaps we are too impulsive or pushy with what we want from others and not balancing out their needs, and with Pluto in Capricorn, this may occur in the career arena, in public forum. Libra being the house of marriage relationships as well, can suggest increased argument within marriage, added friction, since the social status of marriage is also a 10th house/Capricorn issue. While some might think the Mars-Pluto square is always a violent encounter, this is not so and one should not worry about trouble that, simply put, has yet to arrive. In extreme cases, Mars-Pluto can be ugly indeed, but most of us will not be extreme cases. In fact, the real danger is overlooking the small things, such as a complaint from a spouse, or a misinterpretation of work memo, which later snowball into big things.

We also have Venus at 13 degrees of Scorpio, also at detriment, trining Neptune at 11 degrees of Pisces, and significantly, Neptune is preparing to move out of retrograde and forward by the 22nd of this month; amusingly, this will coincide with the date of my mead needing to be racked as it goes through its final stages of ferment. With Venus having difficulty with expression in this sign and the aspect with Neptune, there might be deception involved in love or money, and ultimately, the possibility of money flowing away from you, rather than flowing toward.

Mercury too, is at detriment at 17 degrees of Sagittarius. This may add to difficulties with Venus in detriment and Mars in detriment. With these personal planets finding difficulty in the opposite signs of where they feel comfortable, we might feel “off” or lacking harmony in various aspects of our lives. As in all things, this passes in time, and we should do our best to carry on until the winds change.

A compilation of the full and new moons of 2018 will be available in late 2017, called Lunations, 2018, which will be made available as an ebook.

Libra New Moon at 26 Degrees, 10-19-2017

New Moon 10-19-2017

This new moon lunation occurs at 26 degrees of Libra, the sign of relationships and balance. Our emotional selves and ego selves will be inclined to be more social, touching base with our relationships and weighing how much we give and take in those relationships, both at home behind the scenes and in our more public lives.

Prominently, Uranus at 26 degrees of Aries, the bold pioneer sign at Libra’s polarity, will be in opposition to the sun and the moon, indicating the presence of the unexpected in our lives. An incident might provoke a contrarian reaction in relationships we thought were solid and sympatico, and it tests the boundaries of relationships and marriages and what it means to be independent of those. Uranus wants rebellion, Uranus wants to question, and most of all, he wants to progress us to new territory. We may be forced to choose between the safe comfort of old friends, and the shocking exhilaration of abandoning the status quo to either be by ourselves or to find different company. Or, more likely, our friends may decide they no longer want our company — the choice is not always up to us, and that is the nature of relationships — we cannot control those around us. Uranus has the potential to bring us to a new place in how we relate to people, but the arrival may be shocking and unexpected in its delivery.

In addition, early this month Jupiter made his yearly change through the signs, releasing  Libra to enter into Scorpio. We may find our lives touched by intensity, by uncompromising courage, a desire to do all and achieve more by delving deeply into all we apply ourselves to. Mercury, the planet of communication, of messages, of short trips and siblings, will conjunct Jupiter in Scorpio at 3 degrees of Scorpio, giving all our of communications a new degree of depth — we may be compelled to reveal secrets or others confess secrets to us, we may discover deep manipulation involved in our self-expressions or our conversations with others. Jupiter wants optimism, though, and at worst will blind himself to the dangers of manipulations around him. We will want to talk deeply, magnetically, and sexually, and all things in the house of Scorpio.

Mars, the planet exemplifying men and war, is still transiting Virgo at 28 degrees. Venus has surpassed him, and now he chases her ’round the zodiac, giving a new flavor to relationships between the feminine and masculine. Mars at 28 degrees Virgo squares Saturn at 23 degrees Sagittarius, suggesting our physical actions or health may be at odds with an authority, a structure, or institution. As a for instance, I have a friend who registered for a tournament — and did not realize she would have to submit a blood test! There could be no better embodiment of Mars aspect in Virgo (blood test, analysis) and a Saturn in Sagittarius (a sparring tournament, the tournament itself representing the institution.)

Mars will also form an inconjunct with Uranus at 26 degrees Aries, and so the needs of self (Aries) and the needs of service (Virgo) will have difficulty aligning in a comfortable fashion. If we used the Mars energy in Virgo to pick up new exercise or health regimens, we might have to develop a coping mechanism for Uranus’s nervous energy that threatens to upset our gains. Perhaps it will be as simple as wanting to pursue something, a one-time opportunity, which clashes with our current schedule. This will require some level of juggling on our part.

A compilation of the full and new moons of 2018 will be available in late 2017, called Lunations, 2018, which will be made available as an ebook from Amazon.
