Corollary to Full Moon at 0° of Cancer
December 22, 2018 ~ 12:50 pm EST / December 22, 2018 ~ 17:50 pm UST

This new moon lunation in the sign of Cancer is marked by a Grand Earth trine between Venus in her fall, at 3° of Virgo, the 6th house of service, health, exercise, and organization; Uranus at 2° of Taurus, the 2nd house of resources, wealth, and finance; and Saturn at 4° of Capricorn, retrograde, the 10th house of career, authority, father figures, and rules.

The new moon of Cancer is also dignified, in its cardinal sign, as the moon rules Cancer; this would be an excellent time to create lasting endeavors. With Saturn also in its dignity in Capricorn, I can’t imagine a better time to set up foundations for work, career, investments in business, home and family. Set intentions for the long term and look toward December 22, 2018 for this moon to complete its cycle. The pragmatic, disciplined and strategic use of power will favor you now. This Grand Earth Trine is powerful, with a powerful moon – even challenging aspects will not stand in its way.

Venus at 3° of Virgo is also in her fall – in love and money we will tend to be more discerning, more critical. While this does not make for easy expression of love and affection in relationships it will pare down anything that cannot live up to Virgo’s exacting standards.

Along with the Grand Earth Trine forming between Venus, Uranus and Saturn in Virgo, Taurus and Capricorn, there will be a Grand Water Trine with Neptune at 16° of Pisces, Jupiter at 13° of Scorpio and the sun and moon at 20° of Cancer. This should, in addition to the earthy practicality of the earth trine, make for an emotionally deep time period with a focus on our feelings and how those feelings drive our decisions. We may be more introspective and impulsive, but the predominant earth energy will be present to harness such upwelling of feeling if we choose.

Mercury at 17° of Leo will make us more in the mood to let our mouth, our speech, our expression take center stage, and this will face a square from Jupiter at 13° of Scorpio, and an inconjunct from Neptune at 16° Pisces. We may be inclined to say things that strike a nerve – at its worst, we might regret what was spoken, but in its highest form we might stoke deep feelings in others that causes friction which can lead to change.

Pluto at 20° Capricorn will oppose the sun and moon at 20° Cancer. Secrets and issues of power and control may come into play or be revealed, particularly in the career arena. We may be forced to act on this information, and given the contact of Mercury to Jupiter and Neptune, we should be extra vigilant that our information should be correct before we act on it. If we are not critical and discerning, rash decisions can create more problems than they solve and destruction follows in its wake.

The north node at 6° Leo opposes Mars at 7° Aquarius, retrograde; men at this time may be impatient and eager to progress ideas, projects, actions, and find themselves stymied. The north node will also be inconjunct Saturn at 4° of Capricorn, forcing us to re-examine the foundations and structures in our career world and if it fits with the over arching push of the north node, which in Leo may be demanding more creativity than emphasis on status quo – Mars in detached Aquarius may well break the stale mate with strategic action and warrior spirit.

– Corollary to New Moon at 2° of Cancer
June 23rd, 2017 ~ 10:32 pm EST / June 24th ~ 02:32 am UST

You can read about this corollary lunation on the post, here: https://stars-by-design.com/2017/06/23/cancer-new-moon-june-23-2017/

A Grand Water Trine forms at this full moon between Mars at 14° Scorpio and Neptune at 11° Pisces with the Cancer full moon at 11°. Our actions and expressions will be dreamy, emotionally driven as we start the New Year with the Cancer moon in dignity in the 4th House of home life, private life, and emotional sensibility and concerns.

This lunar cycle was begun in June of 2017 with the corollary new moon at 2° of Cancer. Our home lives were changed, irrevocably shaken up, taken into new environments, family order rearranged, break-ups and endings. The consequences are here with us to stay. Marriages or living arrangements initiated then are reaffirmed now or reach an emotional peak.

The moon at 11° of Cancer forms an opposition to Venus at 9° of Capricorn. This polarity could reveal a clash revolving around money or romance, with Venus in Saturn’s 10th house of constraints and rules and authority and career. The emotional moon in the cardinal sign of Cancer that represents our inner/private life, the life at home gives rise to an issue pulling us between these two fields of career and home. Perhaps business and pleasure, love and money are forcing us into uncomfortable decisions which can no longer be denied or put off. Perhaps co-workers or family members, or you yourself don’t know when to leave the personal at home. This could indicate at change in career or marriage.

Mars at 14° of Scorpio is conjunct Jupiter at 17° Scorpio. Jupiter’s expansive power intensifies the Scorpionic needs, increasing sexual activity, elimination, all-or-nothing attitudes, our need for control and our investment in pride/ego, and the tendency to manipulate. Beware of accidents and the after effects of intense frustration when power and control are thwarted.

Black Moon Lilith conjuncts Saturn at 1° Capricorn. This may further indicate a troubling dalliance with authority, romance affecting career or using sexual charm to get ahead or the expression of this pent-up energy could take the form of harsh criticism or scape-goating.

Further emphasizing this Capricorn theme emerging during this Cancer full moon is the Sun at 11° Capricorn and also conjunct Venus at 9°. Use Venus’s seductive gifts and blend them with the Saturnine house of Capricorn: diplomacy is the way forward as schism emerge in this Cancer/Capricorn polarity.

Semi-squares in effect include Saturn at 1° of Capricorn semi-square to Mars at 14° of Scorpio and Jupiter at 17° Scorpio, indicating further complications in matters of career as Saturn is in his dignity in his home domicile of Capricorn. This can be contentious as authority/career might face opposing interests or challenges – perhaps a project needs extra effort or is sabotaged and someone’s job is on the line, or maybe a great deal of frustration is coming from the top down, or a powerful rival stands in your way. Either way, the issue may finally reach culmination at this full moon.

The North Node is also active with several aspects. The North Node in Leo trines Mercury at 19° Sagittarius. Communications flow up with ease and meet approval with authority; contracts move forward with ease.

The North Node in Leo squares Jupiter at 17° Scorpio and Mars at 14° Scorpio. Revealing a ruling authority figure is undermined by an aggressive, militaristic force, arguments and unrest may reflect in your home life, or these may be scenes played on a larger political stage – in the wider sociology-economic world of governments and civilizations, the outer planets suggest frustrations in the macro-arena.

Neptune in Pisces at 11° forms a semi-square to Uranus in Aries at 24°. Technology or innovation is stalled by more dreams than means. How is that solar farm working out for you? Money is squandered or lost in a speculative gamble, whether the stock market or casino, an even an apparent “win” comes with a costly consequence, standing in the way of the prize.

Cancer New Moon – June 23, 2017

Cancer New Moon

So far, a series of full and new moons have been happening alongside grand fire trines, specifically, an ongoing trine between:

  • Saturn in Sagittarius at 23 degrees
  • North Node in Leo at 27 degrees
  • Uranus in Aries at 27 degrees

I don’t see a lot of astrologers — actually, I haven’t read any astrologers taking note of this trine, probably because I don’t see a lot of astrologers talking about the node in relationship to the whole. However, I focus on the big picture. I like to think in terms of systems, and grand sweeps of time, as opposed to a short term focus. This means the north node has great importance when I look at charts, because they indicate spaces in our lives that we must explore, often with great difficulty. The north node is where we head to forge our karmic future and achieve our soul’s purpose. Thus, the north node figuring into this series of grand fire trines under the new and full moons is of utmost importance, because our “fate” is arriving with a quickness and velocity — speed is the marking of a trine, after all.

So what can we expect with the Cancer New Moon married with a Grand Fire Trine?

Expect the unexpected, as Uranus and the North Node ratchet up fated events regarding matters of home and emotional life that Cancer relates to. Other excellent astrologers like Robert Wilkinson over at the Aquarius Papers takes note that there’s a relationship to events from previous April-May; already I’m seeing events unfolding like a series of falling dominoes — several people going through unexpected divorce proceedings, and another was recently ousted from an abusive home. Many of these culminating events were from small seeds planted early in the year, during or on the heels of the previous Venus Rx. So — expect disruptions in the home environment, emotional demolition and rebuilding, and changes of address. Old friendships might end suddenly, and new ones begin. Saturn still in Rx may well rebuilding something that was not structurally sound when he first initiated steps before the Rx.

This brings us to an interesting conjunction of Mercury at 5 degrees of Cancer, alongside the sun and the moon at 2 degrees. Talks and conversations will be emotional and intense and revolve many of the issues surrounding these disrupting events. Our heart (the moon) and our head (the sun) are consumed with our current emotional and home-life needs (Cancer) and will seek expression.

This emotional aspect will also hit a brick wall — Venus at 18 degrees of Taurus, a very cozy place for the planet of love and wealth, will form a semi-square to this Mercury at 5 degrees of Cancer, along with the sun and moon close by. This could indicate a stalled romance, funds held up (maybe that initial lease deposit isn’t being released), or other circumstances of difficulty and frustration. Semi-squares ask us to endure our current tests, for there is little we can do to rush them along. Take a deep breath and ride it out.

Mars is also hanging out in Cancer, at 12 degrees, his fall, where he squares Jupiter in Libra, at 13 degrees. When emotions run high, we can be aggressive or defensive. Your friends might bear the brunt of this, as all these emotions need outlet — just don’t abuse the privilege and drive others away by not considering their feelings in the matter and trampling all over them in the process.

Neptune at 14 degrees Pisces also trines Mars in 12 degrees of Cancer. The men in one’s home life may be prone to escaping current problems, rather than rising up to the challenges expected of them. Women may be face-palming under this trine and asking why chivalry is dead, since Mars here is not well positioned and cannot find good expression, even under a trine. Neptune diverts him into drinking, gambling, addiction — anything but facing up to the real problems at hand. Mars may even be tempted to play the martyr and exaggerate small problems into big ones. A paper cut is played off as a serious emergency worthy of everyone’s sympathy.

The ongoing inconjunct is still in effect between Neptune at 14 degrees of Pisces and Jupiter at 13 degrees of Libra. I’m not a fan of this particular aspect, as Jupiter expands relationships and Libra sets the standard for balance in those relationships, while Neptune is plodding his foggy way through the natural twelfth house of solitude, of behind the scenes issues, of sickness, institutions and imprisonment. How these two houses and planets clash and seek to find calibration in our personal circumstances is largely what makes inconjuncts so uncomfortable — the solutions are usually not easily provided and thus, not to be found in the usual way. Sometimes, compartmentalization is at work in order to keep our sanity and wall off the parts of ourselves that cannot cope with what life requires of us.

Cancer Full Moon of 1-12-2017, Impressions

screenshot-from-2017-01-10-101149

I sat down with a piece of paper to jot down my impressions of the full moon chart, applicable to the American north-east region in particular.

  • Uranus 20 degrees/Eris 22 degrees in Aries
  • Pluto 17 degrees /Sun 22 degrees in Capricorn
  • Moon, exalted, at 22 degrees
  • Jupiter in Libra, 22 degrees

Each planet stationed in their native Cardinal signs of 1st, 10th, 4th and 7th houses.

Yikes!

Great stress and tension affects us on a personal, private, and public level. Let us touch on the prominent aspects.

People long for the comforts of home as stoked by the full moon in Cancer, but the economic storm being ridden hard by Pluto in Capricorn has destroyed this ideal and now wherever we find ourselves is our home — no matter how unlikely, surprising, or unbearable it may be. We may be in a state of flux, happy with our situations, or trapped here until the moon cycle completes.

Jupiter is expanding Plutonic aspects for those born during the Pluto in Libra generation of the late ’70s, early ’80s. A desire for equality, fairness, demands for justice will be voiced and desires to control social situations and the behavior of others will be pronounced. The best expression of this expanding power of Jupiter in Libra, touching on Pluto’s old tracks, will be seduction and charm — think marketing, advertising, or romantic conquest in the name of love — at its worst, it will be confidence games exacerbated by a semi-square with Neptune in Pisces, giving steam to illusion. Think too, of others who will “cry wolf” with and eye toward advancing ulterior motives.

Uranus and Eris within 2 degrees in Aries also opposes Jupiter in Libra — a schism of the individual needs versus the community is represented here, where we will do anything to get our way or preserve what fills our ego needs, inviting the Goddess of Discord to work hand in hand with the planet of rebellion. I am reminded of a saying, “Don’t go looking for trouble — trouble knows where to find you.” Communities and relationships can be easily undermined by others looking to leverage their good will or their assets for personal means, to someone else’s detriment. It will do no good to trust without also verifying and vetting whatever comes your way.

This is an intense cross with little relief. Take a hint from the crab and stay inside one’s shell for awhile. Here, both Neptune and Saturn may provide respective relief in the downtime if we choose to isolate ourselves until the storm passes by — finding solace in a temporary addiction or escape — for does not the sleeping medicine of a doctor give benefit to the patient’s pain? — taken in small doses — and give us a chance to overlook the faults of others with suitable forgiveness, or spend this alone time building or reinforcing our foundations with Saturn.

Mercury prepares to carry this message from Saturn to Pluto, where if you do not build wisely, Pluto may be compelled to blow your house down.
