Libra New Moon at 26 Degrees, 10-19-2017

New Moon 10-19-2017

This new moon lunation occurs at 26 degrees of Libra, the sign of relationships and balance. Our emotional selves and ego selves will be inclined to be more social, touching base with our relationships and weighing how much we give and take in those relationships, both at home behind the scenes and in our more public lives.

Prominently, Uranus at 26 degrees of Aries, the bold pioneer sign at Libra’s polarity, will be in opposition to the sun and the moon, indicating the presence of the unexpected in our lives. An incident might provoke a contrarian reaction in relationships we thought were solid and sympatico, and it tests the boundaries of relationships and marriages and what it means to be independent of those. Uranus wants rebellion, Uranus wants to question, and most of all, he wants to progress us to new territory. We may be forced to choose between the safe comfort of old friends, and the shocking exhilaration of abandoning the status quo to either be by ourselves or to find different company. Or, more likely, our friends may decide they no longer want our company — the choice is not always up to us, and that is the nature of relationships — we cannot control those around us. Uranus has the potential to bring us to a new place in how we relate to people, but the arrival may be shocking and unexpected in its delivery.

In addition, early this month Jupiter made his yearly change through the signs, releasing¬† Libra to enter into Scorpio. We may find our lives touched by intensity, by uncompromising courage, a desire to do all and achieve more by delving deeply into all we apply ourselves to. Mercury, the planet of communication, of messages, of short trips and siblings, will conjunct Jupiter in Scorpio at 3 degrees of Scorpio, giving all our of communications a new degree of depth — we may be compelled to reveal secrets or others confess secrets to us, we may discover deep manipulation involved in our self-expressions or our conversations with others. Jupiter wants optimism, though, and at worst will blind himself to the dangers of manipulations around him. We will want to talk deeply, magnetically, and sexually, and all things in the house of Scorpio.

Mars, the planet exemplifying men and war, is still transiting Virgo at 28 degrees. Venus has surpassed him, and now he chases her ’round the zodiac, giving a new flavor to relationships between the feminine and masculine. Mars at 28 degrees Virgo squares Saturn at 23 degrees Sagittarius, suggesting our physical actions or health may be at odds with an authority, a structure, or institution. As a for instance, I have a friend who registered for a tournament — and did not realize she would have to submit a blood test! There could be no better embodiment of Mars aspect in Virgo (blood test, analysis) and a Saturn in Sagittarius (a sparring tournament, the tournament itself representing the institution.)

Mars will also form an inconjunct with Uranus at 26 degrees Aries, and so the needs of self (Aries) and the needs of service (Virgo) will have difficulty aligning in a comfortable fashion. If we used the Mars energy in Virgo to pick up new exercise or health regimens, we might have to develop a coping mechanism for Uranus’s nervous energy that threatens to upset our gains. Perhaps it will be as simple as wanting to pursue something, a one-time opportunity, which clashes with our current schedule. This will require some level of juggling on our part.

Aries Full Moon, 10-5-2017

aries full moon 10-5

This full moon lunation occurs at 12 degrees of the 1st house of Aries. The emphasis will be on the Aries-Libra axis of the zodiac, highlighting how we navigate our relationship to self and our relationships to others.

Mercury at 10 degrees Libra will be conjunct the sun. We can expect communications and travel to revolve around those close to us, taking day trips with one’s partner, or a general increased social life. We are in high demand by others, and find validation and comfort in the company of others.

Venus is in her fall at 19 degrees of Virgo, a sign that Venus has trouble expressing her natural affection in. Money and resources may not flow so smoothly, either. Women may find themselves giving and giving in service to something else, only to feel it goes nowhere and to nothing. With Virgo emphasizing service, work, health and exercise, it might be a good time to hit the gym to burn off any anxieties that should arise.

To add to the incentive to physical activity, Mars will be conjuncting Venus at 19 degrees of Virgo. Since Venus’s retrograde earlier this year in 2017, Mars and Venus have been chasing each other around the zodiac; now they meet once more. Mars can give extra force to those Virgo qualities, making it easier to set up the to-do lists and get organized. Where Venus is uncomfortable in Virgo, Mars will come forth to carry her, for soon enough, Venus will pass him, and Mars will commence to chase her for the remainder of the year. There may be unexpected relationships between men and women, but with Venus in Virgo, not necessarily a good time for love or progression in relationships.

Mars and Venus conjunct at 19 degrees of Virgo also faces two significant aspects: a trine to Pluto at 16 degrees of Capricorn, and square to Saturn at 22 degrees of Sagittarius. There is a suggestion here of constriction and contraction, further emphasizing a feeling of spinning one’s wheels and not moving anywhere. With the Pluto trine and the Mars and Venus conjunction, couples may undergo transformation of some sort, and relationships of various sorts may not survive if those involved are not committed to making sacrifices. With Mercury absorbing much of this Virgo energy through rulership, and occupying Libra, talking over prickly relationship matters may not go well, and it also may not be avoidable, as the sun insists we focus our will there, in the 7th house of marriage and relationships. It could be the Big Breakup — or, more likely, it could be the beginning of a brand new chase, since Mars will be running after Venus soon enough.

Jupiter at 28 degrees of Libra is about to make his big shift this month into Scorpio. This could also be amplifying relationship issues, as Jupiter’s force is one of expansion. When Jupiter shifts sign, the time-debt will be paid, and the conventional wisdom is that when one planet leaves and enters a new sign, we are left with a “gift”. Keep that in mind this month as significant changes often happen under the force of the lunation, and it would seem to me that marriage and relationship issues are definitely huge for this full moon. People are going to be making decisions between their ego-selves and their relationship-other. Jupiter will also be in opposition to Uranus at 27 degrees of Aries, where the moon is also transiting, emphasizing the rift between these two polarities. Uranus will deliver the shocks and surprises, and he will want to enable rebellion, not stifle it. Proud Jupiter is not, mythologically speaking, much for restraint, and his huge ego could make gambles that cause more harm than good.

Pluto at 16 degrees Capricorn also squares the sun and moon. There may be challenges that force us to reconsider our home life, our private life, and our public life. When we go to solve them, we may find only more obstacles and this can lead us down a hard road to transformation.

Saturn at 22 degrees of Sagittarius will also trine the North Node at 21 degrees of Leo. While this lunation certainly suggests to me a great deal of struggles are imminent for relationships in general, a good dose of the Leonine generosity, big-heartedness, and leading by example would be a good course to pursue to try to keep things light and in perspective. It will be very much needed, and yet, also difficult to maintain, but should find support from steadfast Saturn, as well as Black Moon Lilith at 26 degrees of Sagittarius.

Virgo New Moon, 27 Degrees, 9-20-2017

Virgo New Moon 9-20-17

For this lunation wen will be faced with the contradictions and complexities of the Virgo-Pisces axis. Both are signs of service, yet, how that service is focused is radically different.

With Neptune in Pisces at 12 degrees, this mighty planet forms an opposition to the personal planets — Mercury at 12 degrees Virgo, in its dignity — and Mars at 9 degrees Virgo. Coupled with the nearby luminaries at 27 degrees Virgo, we have a heavy emphasis on all those traits that Virgo uniquely exemplifies. (I wrote a character portrait of Sherlock as Virgo here.) Those traits are discernment, rationality, critical analysis, an emphasis on health, exercise, daily habits and rituals, pets, and day to day work. Virgo organizes and pulls an efficient working system out of apparent chaos — a chaos readily supplied by the Pisces end of the spectrum.

What I’ve noticed in this period from the Pisces full moon earlier in the month to this Virgo new moon is the contact between Mercury and Neptune in Pisces is either amplifying or creating an effect similar to Mercury in retrograde; several times this month, I have made several wrong turns and been disoriented, making small communication errors along the way. This is typically unlike me, even during a retrograde period, but my natal alignments face a Neptune square to my North Node/Saturn Virgo, and so I am experiencing a potent effect during these particular lunations.

However, I think it’s no accident that some of my co-workers have found themselves sleeping through their alarms, a friend of mind lost money in an idle speculation, and another made promises in a state of Neptune-enthusiasm that in fact, later became untenable when the Virgo moon demanded an accounting for. The Virgo pull is more fundamental during this lunation due to both luminaries and two personal planets occupying the sign, so the if anyone was swept up by the Pisces full moon, they are being anchored back to earth by the discerning Virgo who is not putting up with any nonsense or excuses for a failure in judgement. We’ll have to pay for our mistakes if we want to surmount the Piscean/Neptune fog that surrounds us.

Add to it that Venus has just hit 0 degrees of Virgo, which means she is in her Fall; she will not find easy expression here. Money and love will be under scrutiny and relationships which were bouyant and optimistic previously might sink under the Virgo moon. However — consider that Venus has also passed that eclipse point from last month. I take this to mean that events which unfold now in the realm of Venus may be fated, and even unexpected. If a love falls apart, or a serious money matter crumbles, it is to make way for something else on the horizon. Keep a look out — what comes forth now will echo through the next 18 years of our lives. I suspect that any matter of love or money that survives Venus in Virgo’s careful weighing of value will likely be here to stay. When you hit rock bottom, you can only go up from there, after all.

Uranus in his late degrees of Aries also trines Venus in Virgo, so this should make for some strange events under the umbrella of Mercury, since Virgo is ruled by Mercury. Contracts that seemed to have gone up in smoke might come back to life, revived with unexpected payments, or there might be a communication from a secret admirer where you least expect it.

Pluto in Capricorn also makes a trine to Mercury in Virgo, which might signify a quickening effect. Words spoken, communication exchanges of weight and importance will be prominent. If you wanted to ask a deeply penetrating question, now is the time to plumb the depths and get to the heart of a matter. Use Pluto wisely, he will help you keep confidence and secrets.

Black Moon Lilith at 24 degrees of Sagittarius, conjunct old man Saturn at 21 degrees of Sagittarius and moving forward, is chasing saucy Lilith so they will conjunct exactly again in the near future. The shadow sexuality, that powerful glamor that is the domain of powerful women who own their sex in all its intensity, will have the ability now to gain a great deal of power through influence, and doors may fling open that were once closed. The concept of sex does not have to be represented by a physical act, here — this could be a psychological seduction as well, such as a singer whose songs “seduce” on a mass level. Black Moon Lilith trines the North Node in Leo as well as Uranus in Aries. Women who can channel this powerful force in their work are going to find the world is ripe with opportunity for recognition of their talent.

Pisces Full Moon, 9-6-2017

Full Moon 9-6-2017

This lunation has the sun in Virgo at 13 degrees, and the full moon at the opposing sign of Pisces, 13 degrees. Our daily lives may be concerned with the nuts and bolts, with organization and boundaries, with health and exercise and daily tasks, but our emotional selves will want to dissolve, to lose ourselves to something greater and explore our spiritual depths. We strive to find balance between the two during this lunation.

We are also coming out of a Mercury retrograde, with Mercury finally moving forward at 28 degrees of Leo. This means he’ll be touching on the eclipse point from August 21, and we should expect important communications that reflect the intensity of the eclipse and its North Node presence. Our communications will not only be important, they will be fated.

Mercury at 28 degrees of Leo is also conjuncting Mars at zero degrees of Virgo, which means Mars has also touched on the eclipse point. Our force, our physical presence, how we take action in the world will be doubly important now. Both Mars and Mercury will emphasize the Virgo theme, will make us enthusiastic to engage in service, in practical day to day matters. I would expect that anyone who has had challenges or blockages to achieving a goal may find those obstacles swept away as though in a tide, leaving the path clear. If you were heavy with burdens before, they may well be lifted, and leave you dizzy with relief.

This Pisces moon will be inconjunct Venus at 13 degrees of Leo. Our feminine side will want to let down our hair, and we may feel indulgent, and the Pisces moon will not mesh as it seeks to direct our emotional side to the spiritual, perhaps making us feel a little out of sorts. We want to enjoy the finer things, but feel guilty for it and we can’t pin down why.

Uranus in the last lap of Aries, retrograding at 18 degrees will also trine the personal planets of Mars and Mercury. Trines emphasize quickness, and events may fall into place like a puzzle. He will want to show us how to reap the rewards of being truly ourselves, to be independent and rebellious, and by now, after years of Uranus in Aries, we will ideally have learned to identify what we need in our lives to be individuals, and this may have required personal sacrifices in the service of rebellion. We can now communicate those needs, and take action as required.

Neptune at 12 degrees of Pisces also aspects the luminaries; he will be conjunct the moon at 13 degrees of Pisces, and opposite the sun at 13 degrees Virgo. This emphasizes the desire to give til it hurts, to lose ourselves in a purpose, a calling, a bliss, a drug, a song — whatever calls to us. Work hard under the Virgo sun during the day, and then turn on the music full blast and dance your heart out by yourself or with a good friend, or even a new romantic interest.

Pluto at 16 degrees of Capricorn also trines the earthy Virgo sun, supporting us in our daily tasks, making our attention more keen, our sensibilities more discerning. Nothing passes unnoticed under our watchful eye, now. We’ll want to get to the bottom of things, and you may end up fixing mistakes left over from the previous Mercury retrograde in the nick of time, making your hard work seem effortless and as though nothing went awry to begin with. Pat yourself on the back, and take pride in your work. Your sense of security and self-satisfaction should prove affirming, and that will be a reward in and of itself.

Aquarius Full Moon Eclipse, 8-7-2017

Aquarius Full Moon

Eclipse season is here! The Aquarius full moon ushers in the lunar eclipse at 15 degrees of Aquarius, with the sun opposing at 15 degrees of Leo.

Unlike previous new and full moons this 2017, this lunar eclipse promises to be a little less ‘exciting’ than in the past — unlike the Cancer new moon we experienced, which I know saw a lot of people’s home lives shifting. Anything we have full and new moons in cardinal signs, our lives are often shaken up. This time, we have dreamy, detached, and rebellious Aquarius calling the shots, affecting our private, emotional lives. Behind the scenes we can indulge in our trickster selves, inviting in the unexpected; yet, where the sun, our public face and our ego-self resides, we have a interesting conjunction with Mars.

With the sun at 15 degrees Leo, Mars loosely conjuncts at 11 degrees Leo. Imagine a king conferring with his general. While your emotional self may be indulging in cutting loose, in the forefront of your life, you might have to be making plans and strategizing, putting your best foot forward with the intensity and verve that Mars’ energy is renowned for. Go on the offensive. Stake your claim, mark your territory, take what is yours, be a strong ruler in your life. With the lunar eclipse in Aquarius, it may be that our private lives are experiencing an ending, and with Aquarius ruling the 11th house of acquaintances and friendships, dreams, goals, aspirations, perhaps we are letting go of a choice that didn’t work out for us, a friend who didn’t meet our expectations. We will need to borrow the solar energy of Leo to sally forth and blaze new trails, and Aquarius will love to break through any constraint put upon us by those old, outworn aspirations or friends who, it turned out, were only holding us back from our potential. Time to assume your power.

As if that weren’t enough of a momentum, consider supportive trines from the North Node at 24 degrees of Leo, to Uranus at 28 Aries in retrograde, and Saturn at 21 degrees Sagittarius also retrograde. The solar power of our kingly/queenly self is calling for us to lead through an ending. You’ve got the power to leap into a new beginning with Mars at your side and the fates themselves, the karmic North Node, beckoning you through. That’s not to say it will be easy, as the North Node doesn’t traffic in easy — but take advantage of the swift fast moving energy of the trines to break on through to the other side of whatever might be temporarily holding you back. It might even be a holdover from Saturn’s current transit through Sagittarius, as he will be going direct soon and whatever might be left undone is begging for completion under the last stages of his retrograde.

Jupiter at 17 degrees Libra also trines the Moon at 15 degrees of Aquarius. This emphasizes relationships and balance, and so friends may again be implicated through this contact with the cardinal sign of Libra. Jupiter’s expansive power through the trine will help quicken this ending that the lunar eclipse will bring to a close.

Mercury at 10 degrees Virgo opposes Neptune at 13 degrees Pisces, retrograde; Mercury is also preparing for his retrograde in the next few weeks. Keep up with your to-do lists as Neptune is going to pull us into his dreamy, escapist sphere, or else find a way to use that Neptune dissolution to dissolve something that has not been working for. Communications may have a fine layer of fraud or deception not readily apparent, and it will only increase as Mercury moves slower and slower in preparation for its retrograde. Sit down with some good Neptunian music and don’t make any promises, for you might find yourself unable to keep them.

Lastly, but significantly, there is a square from Pluto at 17 degrees of Capricorn, Saturn’s house by rulership, to Jupiter in Libra at 17 degrees. These are both cardinal signs, so the clash of energy promises to be felt in those arenas that affect our lives the most, in career and relationships. There may be an inequity, something out of balance, a desire for control between to factions, forces, or people, and Pluto will not be satisfied with Jupiter’s happy-go-lucky, dancing around the issue. It is not a time to be frivolous in intimate relationships or at work. Be respectful of everyone’s dignity and balance of power, even if you think the person you’re dealing with doesn’t deserve it or has done you wrong. Succumb to Pluto’s desire for control and cold-hearted dismissal and you might make an enemy who will turn around to bite you later.

Leo New Moon 0 Degrees: Lionheart

Leo New Moon

This New Moon at 0 degrees of Leo starts a cycle that won’t complete until January 2018 — and that future completion will include aspects to the North Node and a heavy influence from Venus. What plans and strategies will you use this new moon for?

Last new moon may have ushered in endings for some; this new moon will usher in new beginnings under Leo’s blessing. What does it mean? Fun, creativity, a splash of drama, perhaps, children and starting one’s own business are all aspects Leo encourages, and with Mars conjunct at 1 degree with the Sun and the Moon in Leo, now is the time to harness the heart of the lion and use its solar power to remake your stage and assume the role you were meant to perform: you, of course, bold and amazing you! Leo wants everyone to know you’re on center stage, so get your lines ready and decide how you want the play to carry you into January of 2018 when the events you set into motion now will reach fruition. This would be an excellent time to do things regarding a business or money making venture in a creative field, as Venus down the line will deliver fortune at the completing full moon in January, 2018. Mars will will give you the energy to reach your goals.

Other significant aspects include a trine from Jupiter at 15 degrees of Libra to Venus at 20 degrees of Gemini — double your fun! Your expanding relationships may become extra chatty and affectionate.

Saturn at 22 degrees of Sagittarius trines Mercury at 26 degrees of Leo, suggesting that communications, contracts, and agreements at this time will move smoothly. Creativity, businesses, foreign travel and higher education might have their place in these types of agreements. Uranus at 28 degrees of Aries trines Mercury at 26 degrees of Leo as well, and so the quirky, unexpected and innovative may come to crash the party; with fast-moving trine energy, don’t fight against the tide, but use the momentum of events creatively.

Squares that might give us problems include Uranus at 28 degrees also squaring the Sun, Moon, and Mars in Leo. Unlike the trine to Mercury, the Uranus square will provide a challenge that affects our public and private life, forcing us into unexpected problem solving mode and distracting us from the fun we had planned. Take care of business and move on, and have a backup plan for your backup plan.

Last, we have an interesting opposition between Venus at 20 degrees of Gemini and Black Moon Lilith at 17 degrees Sagittarius, and Saturn at 22 degrees retrograde in Sagittarius. What is saucy Lilith doing with old man Saturn? Whatever may be at play, a hidden sexuality or affair may come to light under Venus’s pressure, or it could be that a seduction — absent of sex — is revealed in matters of law or career, and Venus’s function revolves more around the flow of money than an actual, nurturing female presence at odds with Lilith’s raw sexuality. Either way, the women in your life might be feeling the pull of these dual female energies in more subtle ways, exacerbated by a square between Lilith and Neptune at 13 degrees of Pisces.

Whatever happens, try to keep it fun under this Leo aspect and you’ll be well supported.

Capricorn Full Moon Conjunct Pluto, 7-9-2017

Capricorn Full Moon

I’m a little later than usual to this week’s lunation; no one, it seems, is escaping the intensity of the recent new and full moons, all urged along under the quickening force of a Fire Trine between Saturn in Sagittarius, Uranus in Aries, and the North Node in Leo, bringing fated circumstances into our lives.

While before, quite a few people were experiencing disruptions under the moon’s passage through Cancer, we now have the full moon transiting through Capricorn, Cancer’s opposite. Pluto waits at 18 degrees with open arms to welcome the moon in conjunction. The moon itself is the natural ruler of Cancer, and so events occurring under the previous Cancer new moon may be transforming, ending, or starting all over again at this powerful full moon. In Saturn’s house of Capricorn, the house of career, it may be the Pluto will tear down previous structures within the home or behind the scenes, and this shaking of foundations will be felt on the career scene as well. Call it astrological whiplash, the effect, of being torn between two realms with also be exacerbated by Mars in his fall in Cancer.

Men or those with more masculine personalities will not sit well with Mars in this position. Mars’ usual propensity for action and battle-frenzy might take on a myriad of forms, but they will be hampered or truncated. Well laid plans will go awry and the potential for violence with Pluto in opposition is high. At best, the men in your life might end up being distracted, making poor decisions, or being ineffectual where before they were focused and sure of themselves. Don’t expect too much from the men in your life during this period, they will not be in a position to deliver results with Mars thus afflicted.

Notable aspects under this lunation include a trine between the Sun at 17 degrees Cancer and Neptune at 14 degrees of Pisces. Given the intensity of the Pluto and moon conjunction, it might be ill advised to wander overmuch, as Neptune might lead one astray; but losing oneself to safe and harmless pursuits is highly recommended. Stay at home and binge watch a satisfying show while the moon and Pluto wreak havoc elsewhere.

Jupiter at 14 degrees of Libra squares off against the Sun in Cancer and Pluto and the Moon in Capricorn at 18 degrees. Relationships will also have a stake in what disruptions Pluto and Mars might bring to the home and career sectors. Lives will be changed forever by culminating events that occur now, and Jupiter square suggests a building friction of people at odds with each other. Whether or not you’ve been vigilant or attentive to maintaining your relationships with others will either bear fruit now — or be torn apart under the force of neglect.

This too, will be exacerbated by the ongoing inconjunct between Jupiter and Neptune. People will be having great difficulty pinning down what they need from others and what they can give them in return; and much of the pain that it stirs will be from lack of clarity and the ability to be decisive.

Also inconjunct is Mars and Saturn. With Mars currently uneasy in Cancer, Saturn has the strongest influence. Expect that any violence or poor decisions that erupt beneath the influence of Mars in Cancer will face up to authoritarian Saturn, in ways we might not expect. Resolutions to these problems may end up drowning in red tape. Justice comes, but not enough of it, and not when it’s needed most.

Lastly, a semi-square between Venus in Gemini and the Sun in Cancer suggest too, that payments are held up or not forthcoming, or love is withheld, blocked, and turned aside — either of these conditions will end up being drawn out and painful, akin to pulling¬† a band aid slowly in the belief doing so will hurt less in the long run, and there won’t be much solution but to power through it and breathe deep. Eventually, the check will clear, and the reluctant lover will come to a conclusion on whether to nourish romance or wither it.
