Johnny Depp: Jupiter, Neptune & Saturn, Revisited

Some of you might remember those Neptune (in Pisces) and Saturn (then in Sagittarius) squares from 2016 — 3 particular aspects that spanned from late 2015 on. And some of you might also remember Jupiter was in Virgo, complicating matters by forming a T-square between these aspects.

In the recent Rolling Stone article, “The Trouble With Johnny Depp“, the writer Stephen Rodrick details the trials and tribulations surrounding the troubled Hollywood celebrity, and I couldn’t help but notice Depp experienced a series of turning points in his life during 2016 — namely, the death of his mother and the collapse of his marriage with Amber Heard. More than this as well — Depp’s lawyer Waldman became involved in his financial dealings, and litigation started in March 2016 against the team handling Depp’s finances.

Coincidence? I think not.

Reading the laundry list of Depp’s expenditures and alleged compulsive spending, it’s easy enough to see the influence of Jupiter all over his life. Jupiter is often given a free pass as a kind and benevolent force bestowing great gifts, but this ignores Jupiter’s down side: Jupiter expands the bad as well as the good. If you spent a nickel ordinarily, Jupiter and Neptune are going to want you to bet a million nickels on the horses, regardless of how bad the odds are.

Interestingly enough, one of the accusations is that Depp spent $30,000 monthly on wine — hello Neptune in Pisces — and when subject came up, Depp responded to the effect that it was much more than that! Jupiter and Neptune, indeed.

It’s not hard to see Saturn implicated in all of this. Saturn is the constraining force, Saturn is making his presence known from his debilitated space in Sagittarius, where the 9th house is key — a house of Jupiter. It would be hard to imagine anyone trying to put the brakes on their spending, their drinking, or their behavior during this time, and now that Saturn has moved into his home base of Capricorn, he will begin to draw blood and truly knuckle down, no longer having to war with the expansiveness of Jupiter by rulership.

While Saturn had still been in Sagittarius, it appears Depp made some token attempts to gain control over his expenditures, but with Saturn so debilitated, and under the influence of that Neptune square, everything must have been working against his intentions.

It’s a profound illustration that aspects from years past can have a ricochet effect into the future, and nowhere more potent than where Saturn happens to be, and where he is headed …

Full Moon at 12° Capricorn: Man on Fire – 06-28-18

06-28-2018 Full Moon
When –
June 28, 2018 ~ 12:54 pm EST / June 28, 2018 04:54 pm UST

Corollary to New Moon at 26° of Capricorn
January 16, 2018 ~ 09:18 EST / January 17th, 2018 ~ 02:18 am UST

This new moon completes a cycle began on January 16th earlier this year with a Capricorn new moon. What makes this lunation significant is that it occurs with Mars at 9° Aquarius – retrograde! We should expect the potential for increased aggression and competitiveness, potential for accident, and the men in our lives to be more harried or energetic than usual.

The sun occupies 6° Cancer, the 4th house of our emotional selves, our private life and our lives at home, while the moon is at 12° Capricorn, the 10th house of Cancer and our community/public life. These cardinal points touch on matters that are important to our lives.

Mars at 9° Aquarius retrograde will form an inconjunct to the sun at 6° Cancer. This can suggest some friction or difficulty, too much force applied to a breaking point, or some frustration on the home turf. It might be a good idea to expend Mars’ radical Aquarian energy and by choosing a pursuit out of the home. Though it could be that an issue from the past is revisited, but not so easily resolved.

Jupiter at 13° Scorpio, also in retrograde, also complicates factors by forming squares to the personal planets. Jupiter squares Mars at 9° Aquarius retrograde, and Jupiter also squares Venus at 17° Leo. There may be friction between the sexes with Jupiter amplifying there differences, or magnetic attraction.

Saturn at 5° of Capricorn is also retrograde – and opposes the sun in Cancer. We should pay attention to our responsibilities both at home and at work to avoid mishaps and misunderstandings. We can expect some element of restriction between career and home.

Mercury at 29° Cancer could signify the potential for endings, or arguments that herald endings. Mercury squares Uranus at 1° Taurus, suggesting that money/finance could be indicated.

Neptune at 16° of Pisces inconjuncts Venus at 17° of Leo, adding some extra tension. While Venus struts her stuff in dramatic Leo fashion, she might be disposed to gamble or indulge a bit more than usual, and conflicts might arise between the need for moderation and the haughty take-all Leo nature.

Mercury at 29° of Cancer enters our lives again, this time as an opposition to Black Moon Lilith at 25° Capricorn. This might not be a good time to send inappropriate text messages/emails, as the response could be both emotional and if it occurs in a work place setting, litigious.

The north node continues through the sign of Leo at 7°, with an ongoing inconjunct to Saturn at 5° Capricorn, but more significantly, an opposition to Mars at 9° Aquarius, retrograde, still ongoing from last lunation.

New Moon 22° Gemini: Emotional Communications – 6-13-2018

06-13-2018 New Moon
When –
June 13, 2018 ~ 03:45 pm EST / June 13, 2018 ~ 7:45 pm UST

Corollary to Full Moon at 7 of Gemini
November 23, 2018 ~ 12:41 am EST / November 23, 2018 ~ 05:41 am UST

We begin this lunation with sun and moon at 22° Gemini. We should expect all matters of the 3rd house to come into focus, from short trips, communications and siblings.

This means that Mercury, being the ruler of Gemini, is important during this new moon lunation. We can find Mercury at 2° of Cancer, tracing Venus’s steps. Here, Mercury comes into opposition with Saturn at 6° of Capricorn, retrograde, and going over all we set down when Saturn was last moving forward. We might be reviewing projects or presenting new ideas to important people in our career field, and our communications may be heart felt and emotional at this time.

Venus at 29° of Cancer forms a square to Uranus at 1° of Taurus. We might have unexpected expenses or home repairs, a roof might spring a leak. Stay on top of where your money is going and do what you can to have a rainy day fund on hand.

North node at 8° Leo opposes Mars at 8° Aquarius, semi-square sun and moon at 22° Gemini. With the north node at 8° Leo, Mars opposes at 8° Aquarius, suggesting that we might meet a physical challenge, pulling us away from our north node quest. Our quests are never easy, so this would mean the challenge comes in the form of something pleasing to us, something we comfortable with.

Giving us more static is a semi-square to the luminaries at 22° Gemini, making it doubly hard to achieve our fated future. We may need the assistance of lessons learned in our karmic past to help us reach goal, which means looking to the south node in Aquarius, to see where we come from and what we’ve accomplished to better assess what must be done and resolve our current challenges.
