It’s the last new moon of 2017!
When I started this blog, I started out 2017 with a specific goal: post an astrological break down of each new and full moon. I kept my goal, and learned much more about the lunar cycles than I could have imagined, widening my understanding and sharing my insights with a wonderful audience.
As we close in on the last days of 2017, we have a chance to experience new beginnings. The sun and moon conjunct at 26 degrees of Sagittarius, that expansive sign of foreign travel and culture, higher education, and publishing.
In addition, Saturn is hinged on the 29th degree, hammering home the old saying that every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end; no less now as we prepare for Saturn to be ushered into Capricorn. Perhaps we are still tidying up retrograde messes from Saturn’s previous passage, or Mercury, who is still retrograde at 15 degrees Sagittarius. Yet, with Saturn closing in on the next sign, we may notice bigger shifts. Think back to when Saturn first entered Sagittarius in late 2015; I myself began a course of study that is now finishing. Others may notice that long term projects are coming to fruition, or nearing closure. It is time to consider what else we may want to build under this new moon, knowing that Capricorn is going to be a major transit in Saturn’s future.
And considering that the sun and moon are conjunct Saturn, it should be clear that our public and private life is supporting our potential new projects. Consider Capricorn’s earthy, practical nature and focus on career and ambitions to succeed. We may be considering how we can take the lessons of Sagittarius and apply them to our career field.
Significantly, Uranus is also at 24 degrees of Aries, and in nearly six months, he will be moving into earth-centered Taurus. For now, though, he’s making a trine to the sun and the moon, and a very loose trine to Saturn; we may see something unexpected come into our lives — for many, the holiday season might bring gifts we did not foresee, or the meeting of old friends and relatives we had thought were lost to us.
Venus at 21 degrees of Sagittarius is also making a trine to Uranus at 24 degrees of Aries, and so there might be matters of romance or fortune coming into play during the holiday season as well; keep the mood light hearted and steal a kiss beneath the mistletoe.
Neptune at 11 degrees Pisces will also form square with Mercury, retrograde at 15 degrees Sagittarius; this may indicate some difficulties with negotiations, contracts, or at the very least, unclear or fuzzy information which could also implicate media. It’s my understanding that recently, an article regarding a UFO was the headline “news” among several major newspapers — information acquired from a member of the band Blink 182. Given that this square with Neptune and this retrograde Mercury is happening in conjunction with the media covering this event, be aware that everything considered fit-to-print is not the whole story, and it comes with a strong whiff of delusion, if not outright distraction. Be advised to carefully vette what information you intend to make decisions based off of so you can take a proper heading and not be lost in the fog.
A compilation of the full and new moons of 2018 will be available in late 2017, called Lunations, 2018, which will be made available as an ebook.
