This lunation has the sun in Virgo at 13 degrees, and the full moon at the opposing sign of Pisces, 13 degrees. Our daily lives may be concerned with the nuts and bolts, with organization and boundaries, with health and exercise and daily tasks, but our emotional selves will want to dissolve, to lose ourselves to something greater and explore our spiritual depths. We strive to find balance between the two during this lunation.
We are also coming out of a Mercury retrograde, with Mercury finally moving forward at 28 degrees of Leo. This means he’ll be touching on the eclipse point from August 21, and we should expect important communications that reflect the intensity of the eclipse and its North Node presence. Our communications will not only be important, they will be fated.
Mercury at 28 degrees of Leo is also conjuncting Mars at zero degrees of Virgo, which means Mars has also touched on the eclipse point. Our force, our physical presence, how we take action in the world will be doubly important now. Both Mars and Mercury will emphasize the Virgo theme, will make us enthusiastic to engage in service, in practical day to day matters. I would expect that anyone who has had challenges or blockages to achieving a goal may find those obstacles swept away as though in a tide, leaving the path clear. If you were heavy with burdens before, they may well be lifted, and leave you dizzy with relief.
This Pisces moon will be inconjunct Venus at 13 degrees of Leo. Our feminine side will want to let down our hair, and we may feel indulgent, and the Pisces moon will not mesh as it seeks to direct our emotional side to the spiritual, perhaps making us feel a little out of sorts. We want to enjoy the finer things, but feel guilty for it and we can’t pin down why.
Uranus in the last lap of Aries, retrograding at 18 degrees will also trine the personal planets of Mars and Mercury. Trines emphasize quickness, and events may fall into place like a puzzle. He will want to show us how to reap the rewards of being truly ourselves, to be independent and rebellious, and by now, after years of Uranus in Aries, we will ideally have learned to identify what we need in our lives to be individuals, and this may have required personal sacrifices in the service of rebellion. We can now communicate those needs, and take action as required.
Neptune at 12 degrees of Pisces also aspects the luminaries; he will be conjunct the moon at 13 degrees of Pisces, and opposite the sun at 13 degrees Virgo. This emphasizes the desire to give til it hurts, to lose ourselves in a purpose, a calling, a bliss, a drug, a song — whatever calls to us. Work hard under the Virgo sun during the day, and then turn on the music full blast and dance your heart out by yourself or with a good friend, or even a new romantic interest.
Pluto at 16 degrees of Capricorn also trines the earthy Virgo sun, supporting us in our daily tasks, making our attention more keen, our sensibilities more discerning. Nothing passes unnoticed under our watchful eye, now. We’ll want to get to the bottom of things, and you may end up fixing mistakes left over from the previous Mercury retrograde in the nick of time, making your hard work seem effortless and as though nothing went awry to begin with. Pat yourself on the back, and take pride in your work. Your sense of security and self-satisfaction should prove affirming, and that will be a reward in and of itself.
A compilation of the full and new moons of 2018 will be available in late 2017, called Lunations, 2018, which will be made available as an ebook from Amazon.
